Wrongful Death Evidence Lost in Barren Co. Murder Case

A forensic scientist with KSP says she lost a piece of evidence in a murder case out of Barren County.

The body of 2-year-old Laynee Wallace was found in a well in May 2015.

Anthony Barbour is charged in the little girl’s murder.

The Bowling Green Daily reports that Marci Atkins testified she put the shirt and other pieces of evidence in a box and left it outside her office in Frankfort.

A short time later, Atkins noticed the box was gone and thought someone picked it up, but the box has never been found.

The defense says that the shirt is vital to the case because they’re also accusing Wallace’s mother of being involved in the murder.

WBKO reports that Atkins testified that the shirt tested negative for blood, saliva, and semen.

Barbour’s trial is set for December 6.
