Private Detective: Man Accused of Trying to Kill Father-In-Law Due in Court

A Laurel County man accused of trying to kill his invalid father-in-law will face a judge Monday.

Shane Anders, 35, was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the home he shared with his wife, Crystal Anders, and father-in-law.

Anders’ wife was one of the elderly man’s caretakers. She, along with an in-home healthcare worker, found her father with an oxygen cord wrapped tightly around his neck. The cord was wrapped so tightly that Crystal had to use scissors to remove it from his throat.

The woman told deputies that her husband had previously threatened her father and had told her to pour Clorox down his throat to “take care of the problem.” Anders told them that her husband had choked her the day before.

The couple’s 10-month-old child was in the residence at the time.

Shane Anders was arrested and charged with attempted murder, domestic violence and public intoxication. He also had an outstanding bench warrant.

Anders is expected to plead to the charges Monday morning.
