Private Detective: Valley View Ferry Closed After Possible Human Remains Found

The Valley View Ferry is closed Wednesday after Lexington Police say that potential human remains have been found in the Kentucky River.

Police tell us the possible remains were found on Saturday while they were pulling old vehicles from the water. The Fayette County Coroner tells LEX 18 were pulling a car out of the water when it split in half. At that point, bones washed out of the vehicle.

They say testing still needs to be done on the remains, which could be a lengthy process. They aren’t sure if the bones were originally inside the car or if the remains washed into the vehicle.

On Wednesday another crew will return to the river to further explore the area.

The remains were found during a salvage operation in which cars that had been spotted in the river months ago were pulled from the water.

At this time police say it is not clear if the suspected remains are connected with any of those vehicles or any particular investigation.

Because river conditions remain ideal, a crew will head back to continue their search. The Valley View Ferry will be closed all day starting at 8 a.m.
