Insurance Fraud St. Louis Adjuster Admits to $400k Scam

St. Louis, MO — A former insurance claims adjuster faces sentencing in May after admitting to filing false insurance claims to divert more than $400,000 to himself.

Thirty-3-year-old Brian Behl of St. Louis County pleaded guilty Friday to mail fraud. He worked for Allianz Insurance as a claims adjuster in O’Fallon, Mo., before being fired in September.

Allianz clients are companies whose employees relocate for employment purposes. Employees file claims when property is damaged during a move.

Federal prosecutors say that from March 2010 to September 2012, Behl falsified damage claims, resulting in Allianz making payments to a fictitious salvage company. All told, more than 40 checks were written that Behl cashed for personal use.

As part of the plea, Behl must forfeit a Ford Mustang, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and nearly $41,000.

Pedophile Tracking Chester, NH Man Faces Additional Charges

BRENTWOOD – A Chester man already facing charges he sexually assaulted a young girl in the 1990s has been charged with possessing child pornography, prosecutors said.

Gary Britton was indicted on 15 counts of possession of child sexual abuse images, which could keep him in state prison for the rest of his life if he is convicted.

Consecutive sentences could bring a minimum term of 115 years if Britton is convicted, according to indictments.

Prosecutors say Britton, 61, had a variety of images and videos on his home computer showing children engaging in sexual acts.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The images were discovered by his landlords in September 2011, prompting Chester police to seize the computer and have it forensically examined.

New charges against Britton came to light more than a week ago when public defenders petitioned a judge for state-approved funds so a forensic exam could be performed on Britton’s computer.

The defense wants Britton’s computer examined so it can determine for itself when “questionable pornographic images” were placed on a computer’s desktop screen.

The indictments were made public Thursday.

Allegations about Britton having child pornography on his computer appeared in court documents and testimony for months.

Public defenders acknowledged in court papers that they would explore a plea deal for Britton, but it’s unclear whether the latest indictments could upend that effort.

Britton is serving a 12-month jail sentence after pleading guilty for failing to register as a sex offender.

A grand jury indicted him in August on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of felonious sexual assault.

Chester police initially arrested Britton for failure to re-register as a sex offender. Britton was evicted from his apartment on the same day – for unpaid rent – which set off a wider police investigation.

His landlords began going through Britton’s belongings and turned on his computer, police said. They discovered the pornography on the computer and called police.

An examination of the computer provided information to police that Britton began sexually assaulting a girl in 1991, according to prosecutors. The girl was 9 years old when the series of assaults began, and continued until 1995, indictments say.

Each of the sexual assault charges are punishable by up to 20 to 40 years in state prison. He faces a felon in possession of a weapon charge for possessing a handgun that Police Chief William Burke found while police were executing a search warrant of the apartment.

Britton was barred from owning a gun for being convicted in 1983 of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

Wrongful Death Harlan County Woman Believes Murder Suspects are Innocent

A Harlan County woman told LEX 18 the two Harlan County men charged with murder, including one that she’s known all her life, are innocent.

“I still don’t believe it,” said Debbie Bledsoe. “I just don’t think these boys were involved in that.”

Jody Cooper, 24, of Baxter, KY, and Justin Miller, 28, of Cumberland, KY, were arrested early Sunday morning and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. Cooper also faces additional charges of robbery and abusing a corpse.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Kentucky State Police found the body of 30-year-old Damiano Delany in a yard at a home along KY Highway 522 in Baxter, KY around 10 p.m. Saturday.

According to a citation report, Cooper told the first officers who arrived on scene that he had shot Delany. The victim’s hands were tied behind his back, the report said.

Miller told investigators he witnessed the crime and watched Cooper take clothes, drugs and money from Delany after shooting him.

The two agreed to split the money, the citation report said, but Miller gave his half back after going next door and telling a family member what happened.

The family member then called 911, the citation report said.

The report also states Cooper tried to wrap Delany’s body and asked Miller to help him move it into the woods.

“{Jody Cooper} is a wonderful citizen,” said Bledsoe. “he would never rob nobody. I’m definitely sure he wouldn’t kill nobody or take nobody’s life”

Bledsoe described Cooper as a good boy who always went to church, worked in the coal mines and someone who would help his neighbors. She’s also known Miller for several years and said the truth of what happened will come out.

The case is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
