Fraud Investigation NJ Woman Cancer Scam

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. — Authorities say a New Jersey woman scammed relatives and others out of cash, meals and even a wedding by falsely claiming she had bladder cancer.

The Burlington County prosecutor has charged 40-year-old Lori Stilley of Delran with theft by deception.

Officials say in February 2011, Stilley told those close to her and posted on Facebook that she had been diagnosed with cancer. In April, she said her condition had worsened.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Authorities say supporters raised more than $10,000.

Supporters became suspicious in November 2011 when she posted that she was feeling better and believed a miracle was coming.

Her lawyer, Adam Malamut, tells the Burlington County Times that authorities have not presented him with any evidence that Stilley did anything wrong.

Stilley is free on $25,000 bail.

Missing Person Bedford County, TN 2 Children Missing After Fire

BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn.- An endangered child alert has been issued for the two children who had been presumed dead in a Bedford County fire over the weekend.

The children, 9-year-old Chloie Leverette and 7-year-old Gage Daniel, were declared missing by Sheriff Randall Boyce early Wednesday morning after two days of searching the charred home. According to State Bomb and Arson investigators, the children were not victims of the fire and their whereabouts were unknown.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The Tennessee Highway Patrol flew over the area Wednesday with a helicopter using infrared cameras to search for the bodies.

Investigators used cadaver dogs to search the home Tuesday.

The bodies of the children’s grandparents, 72-year-old Leon McClaran and 70-year-old Mollie McClaran, were found in the rubble on Monday.

Investigators said the home burned Sunday night at super high temperatures, up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sheriff Boyce sent detectives to interview family members, to see if anyone thinks the children might have been taken from the scene, but he is convinced that is not the case.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Chloie and Gage, please contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Identity Theft Fraud Ring Thief Sentenced in Manhattan

An ID-theft “shark” — who admittedly helped a check-fraud ring steal at least $450,000 — was sentenced to three-to-nine years prison in Manhattan today.

Joel Luciano, 30, of the Bronx, helped recruit the small army of identity schleppers who’d march through the doors of TD Bank branches and open fake accounts based on stolen information. The schleppers would then deposit bad checks from other banks, and later quickly withdraw cash, which would be turned over to alleged ring bosses.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The ring traveled out of state in their quest for special no-limit or high-limit cash machines, and in one instance Luciano drove a bus-load of accomplices to Atlantic City so they could all dip their illegal TD Bank debit cards in the “slots” at the casino ATM machines, prosecutors said.

“He was a shark in these waters, in these trying economic times,” assistant district attorney Kenn Kern said at Luciano’s sentencing before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Daniel Convisor.

“Today, a ringleader is headed to prison,” DA Cyrus Vance said in a written statement, in which he credited investigators with his Cybercrime and Identity Theft Bureau with busting the ring.

Defense lawyer Patrick Michael Megaro called Luciano a working father of two who made only a few thousand dollars in the scheme. With luck and good behavior, Luciano — who has already served almost a year in jail — may be released on work release within ten months.

Wrongful Death Teen Father Shot in Lexington, KY

A one-month-old child is left to grow up without a father after a deadly shooting Tuesday night in Lexington.

Gunfire broke out around 8:30 p.m. inside a unit at Matador North Apartments on Winburn Drive.

16-year-old Jaleel Raglin was shot. He was taken to UK Hospital where he was pronounced dead, a short time later.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“Jaleel loved him so much,” said Da’Jure Jones, the mother of Raglin’s child, as she held their 4-week-old son, Kaiden.

Jones said Raglin was at her apartment visiting Kaiden Tuesday night, when she stepped outside.

“When I had left Jaleel was in here. When I came back in, I seen my mom crying and I seen Jaleel lying on the floor,” said Jones. “I knew that he wasn’t gonna make it because I was just holding his hands and asking him to please wake up.”

Hours after the shooting, police arrested Malik Johnson, 20, the man they say murdered Raglin.

“He was jealous of me and Jaleel’s relationship,” Jones said.

Johnson appeared in court Wednesday afternoon, pleading not guilty to the crime.

“Gangbanging and violence is just… people don’t realize how much it hurts the other people that truly care,” Jones said.

Jones said Raglin had been changing his life for 4-week old, Kaiden, trying to get his GED.

“He was just trying to do better and get away from all of this,” said Jones.

Malik Johnson will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on the morning of October 2.

Funeral arrangements for Jaleel Raglin are pending.

PITTSBURGH—A resident of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

The one-count indictment named Joshua J. Gildea, 25, formerly of 116 South 7th Street, Youngwood, Pennsylvania, as the sole defendant.

According to the indictment, on July 30, 2012, Gildea possessed visual depictions, namely, images and videos in computer graphics files, the production of which involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Greensburg Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
