When last seen, Lopez was wearing a black t-shirt with the image of a wolf on the front. He was also wearing blue jeans — torn at the knee — as well as tennis shoes. He’s also believed to be carrying a Los Angeles Dodgers backpack.

Identity Theft Spotsylvania County, VA Woman Faces 15 Years

A Spotsylvania County woman faces up to 15 years in prison after her conviction Tuesday on three counts of identity theft.

Amber Nichole Dahmen, 29, was arrested in December after police followed a paper trail that led back to her.

The investigation started late last year when three women reported that they believed bogus credit cards and bank accounts had been opened in their names, said Spotsylvania Commonwealth’s Attorney Bill Neely.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Amber Dahmen

Detective Joe Cagnina was able to identify a suspect from a surveillance video after one of the fraudulent cards was used at a local Japanese steakhouse, Neely said.

Cagnina also discovered that Dahmen had opened up a post office box to receive stolen goods.

A search warrant was issued at her home in November and led police to find a laptop and a safe hidden in her closet that contained credit cards, bank account information and stolen mail belonging to at least 20 people.

Dahman admitted that the laptop and safe belonged to her, but denied that any of the fraudulent information was hers, Neely said.

She said anyone who had access to her home could have put the cards in her safe—possibly blaming it on her own mother, who is a convicted felon, or her boyfriend.

Dahman was convicted in 2011 on an embezzlement charge at a Wells Fargo Bank in Fredericksburg where she worked.

She was sentenced to three years with all but three months suspended.

All of the victims in the Spotsylvania identity theft case had banked with Wells Fargo, Neely said.

A sentencing hearing in Spotsylvania Circuit Court is scheduled for July 23.

Her bond was revoked and she is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Pedophile Tracking Homeless Sex Offender Accused of Molesting 7 Year Old

A homeless sex offender who had spent time in federal prison faces felony charges in Brown County, accused of molesting a 7-year-old girl he was babysitting.

Gary Michael Kaquatosh, 56, is accused of first-degree sexual assault of a child under 13 as a repeat offender. He also is charged with failing to meet sex-offender reporting requirements, also as a repeat offender.

The girl told police that her male babysitter inappropriately touched her in February in the west side apartment where she lives with her mother and brother, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Brown County Circuit Court.

The child’s parents were at a local casino during the incident, according to the complaint.

City police were called to the apartment about 4:30 a.m. for a report of children running in the hallway; they said Kaquatosh told them that the girl and her brother had locked him out, the complaint states.

In 2010, Kaquatosh pleaded no contest to failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years’ probation, according to Wisconsin court records posted online. A judge revoked his probation three months later and sentenced him to a year in state prison.

He was convicted in federal court in March 1992 of aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 12, the complaint states.

Accident Reconstruction Critical Motorcycle Crash in Laurel County

Investigators in Laurel County are still trying to figure out what caused a motorcycle crash this week that critically injured a man. Now, that family is asking for your help during this difficult time.

“You’re life can change in a matter of minutes,” said Mike Reidenbough’s wife, Jennifer.

Those words spoken from UK Hospital, where Jennifer Reidenbough has been since Tuesday. She says her husband, Mike, had been riding his motorcycle and was almost home when the unthinkable happened.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

“About 3 houses up from where we live and wrecked his motorcycle,” she said.

Although his helmet is being credited for saving Mike’s life, his injuries are still very serious.

They’re still really not telling us a whole lot other than it is a waiting game. They aren’t ruling out paralysis, they are not ruling out brain damage, they aren’t ruling out anything at this point. So, we are just taking baby steps and celebrating the good ones and rallying together when they are the bad ones,” Jennifer said.

Doctors tell the family Mike could be at UK for a couple more months.

“We have four children and we are having to be separated from them right now. They can’t stay with us and I know it is hard on them and hard on us,” Jennifer said.

Once Mike is out of the hospital, it is off to a rehabilitation facility.
“There is years and years of rehabilitation physical therapy and a lot of medical bills and I don’t want my brother to go without the best,” said Mike’s brother, Josh Reidenbough.

Knowing the financial strain this long road to recovery is going to cause, the family ask for your help. People can visit the family’s GoFund Me account here.

Those familiar with PayPal can also use that. Just log onto the site and send monetary donations to Reidenbaugh1@yahoo.com

Pedophile Tracking Former Longview ISD Teacher Pleaded Guilty

A former Longview ISD teacher pleaded guilty Friday to sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Robert Craig Varnell, 57, of Holly Lake Ranch was arrested in May 2011 and released from jail on bond in November 2011. He was booked back into the Gregg County Jail on Sept. 13, 2012.

At the time of that arrest, he was a teacher and co-UIL coordinator at Longview High School. He resigned following his arrest.

Jail records showed a second charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact was dismissed.

A criminal docket document showed Varnell waived his right to a jury trial, and that Varnell would receive time credited for the 806 days he has spent in jail.

The charges stem from allegations Varnell had inappropriate physical contact with a 16-year-old boy numerous times from Aug. 31, 2007, to May 3, court records show.

The improper relationship started when the boy was 13 and Varnell was employed by LeTourneau University’s computer science department, court records show.

Varnell’s attorney, Stephen Smith, could not immediately be reached for comment Friday night.

Varnell entered the plea agreement Friday in Gregg County’s 124th District Court.

Missing Person Billy Shuler of Pasco County, FL

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing man and the last person he met with and investigators fear something bad has happened, Sheriff Chris Nocco said Friday.

Billy Shuler, 69, is a coin collector and dealer and left his home in Homosassa Wednesday to do business with Tony Maresca of Holiday. Shuler’s family hasn’t seen him since.

“Everybody has a father. I beg, please, I want to spend Father’s Day with my dad,” said Shuler’s son, Dan Shuler.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Dan Shuler and his mother, Esther, couldn’t hold back tears as they spoke about their missing loved one.

“He wouldn’t hurt anyone or anybody. He’d give the clothes off his back to somebody. They didn’t have to kill him or do whatever they’ve done to him all they had to do was ask,” Esther Shuler said.

It’s unclear what investigators believe happened to Billy Shuler, but they want to talk with Maresca, who they consider a person of interest.

Citrus County detectives tracked Shuler’s cell phone to Miller’s Auto Body shop in Holiday and found the missing man’s truck there. Evidence in the vehicle led investigators to suspect foul play.

“Tony, if you’re watching this, please notify the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. We want to talk to you. You shouldn’t be on the run if everything is okay,” Nocco said during a news conference.

Detectives said Shuler and Maresca are acquaintances who have had several business dealings together. Maresca was last seen in the Tarpon area.

Shuler’s family is trying not to lose hope.

“Prayers for my dad and his safe return are greatly appreciated,” his son said.
