Wrongful Death Lexington Police Search for Murder Suspect

Lexington police have identified the suspected gunman in the city’s 18th homicide in 2014.

As of Friday investigators were still searching for 21-year-old Jevon Magee, also known as “Tink.” Officers said he gunned down Joseph Ramone Parker at the August Arms apartment complex at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Now Magee’s sister is urging him to turn himself in. Galisha Washington lives in the apartment complex, feet from where the shooting occurred. For her, it was a shock that someone was killed and even more unthinkable that her brother may have been involved.

“It’s definitely a surprise, cause like I said that’s my brother, I have never seen him do anything so violent,” said Washington. “He’s not that type of person.”

For Washington, last 38 hours have been pure confusion. She said, Magee, who is her younger brother, has been visiting her for the week. Early Thursday morning, Washington said her brother woke her up saying that police were outside.

“I saw police, ambulance, and a man laying on the ground and they was performing C.P.R.” said Washington.

Police said that man was 30-year-old Joseph Ramone Parker. Galisha and neighbors told LEX 18 that they had never seen him before.

Washington was in shock about the shooting and even more so that the suspect might be someone she loves.

“I was just thinking what happened? Somebody just got killed, what happened who did it?” said Washington. “I definitely didn’t think my brother had anything to do with it.”

She said Magee just got out of prison for a robbery he committed at only 15-years-old and that he is a changed man, incapable of doing this.

Washington said Magee left her home Thursday and she hasn’t seen him since. Police came to her workplace on Friday afternoon looking for Magee and told her that witnesses and evidence pointed to her brother.

Now she said she wants the truth and justice for the victim, not matter what it is.

“Police can only go by what they see and what people tell them,” said Washington.”I hope my brother turns himself in and gets to the bottom of this situation.”

If you have any information about Magee’s location, you are asked to call police.
