Private Detective: Man Holds Woman And Child in Car Against Their Will

A man is facing charges after police say he lead them on a police chase Saturday morning. But investigators say during the chase, the man was holding a woman and young child inside against their will. It started on Centre Parkway at around 10 a.m.

Police say they received multiple calls involving a domestic violence situation at a nearby apartment complex. When officers arrived to the scene, family members said 24-year-old Marco Givens assaulted his girlfriend. Police learned Givens arrived to the apartment earlier in the morning and allegedly kicked in the door. When the victim tried to get in her car with her son, Givens apparently took control of the car and took off with the woman and child inside.

Police say the victim kept hold of her cell phone and managed to secretly send text messages to her family members about the situation and where they were located.

An officer tried to stop the vehicle near Georgetown and Roosevelt, but officers say Givens refused to stop. A short chase ensued that reached speeds of 60-70 miles an hour, and ended on Pemberton. Police say the suspect ran a few blocks away to 5th and Chestnut, where police were able to take him into custody.

The woman and child were both unharmed.

Givens is facing several charges, including burglary, unlawful imprisonment and fleeing and evading.
