A 67-year-old Richmond Man is charged with 50 counts of sexual abuse after Berea Police say he had sexual contact with a 12-year-old boy.
Berea Police say this abuse spanned a two year period and his victim was a child he volunteered to drive to church.
David Cornelison declined LEX 18’s request for an interview from the Madison County Detention Center where he’s being held after his arrest Thursday.

According to the arrest citation the victim says the alleged sex abuse happened three times a week between October 2014 and January of this year.
Berea Police say they were contacted by the victim’s family several days ago and that’s when the investigation began. Police say Cornelison came in contact with the child after he knocked on doors volunteering to drive people to church.
Police say Cornelison does admit to a single instance in which he reached into the back of the child’s underwear and touched him inappropriately. Police have reason to believe Cornelison had access to other children and are now concerned there could be other victims.
The pastor of the church didn’t want to make a comment on the situation but says that church members are overwhelmed at the accusations.
