Accident Reconstruction Woman Killed in Jessamine County Crash

Police say a man is in the hospital with critical injuries and a woman is dead after two cars collided on a Jessamine County road around 6:30 Sunday evening.

“It was horrific and I was, I was scared. It was frightening,” said witness Patrick Reid.

Police say a Volvo was driving south on U.S. 27 when a white SUV possibly tried to make a left hand turn into a gas station. The two vehicles collided.

A woman in her 50s was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead on scene. The coroner has identified that woman as 53-year-old Carol Sue Huff of Nicholasville. A man who was in the SUV was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

All four people in the Volvo are being treated for non life threatening injuries.

“I went over to one of the cars to tell the passengers to stay calm. Try to calm down and stay still, EMS was on their way,” said Reid.

“We have collisions between North Main Street and the Fayette County line quite frequently; not to this magnitude,” said Kevin Grimes from Nicholasville Police.

Police also say this stretch of road has seen a lot of crashes. About two months ago there was a wreck that killed four people; just a quarter mile up the road from where this crash happened.

The road re-opened around 10:30 p.m.
