One person was airlifted from a serious crash in Laurel County Monday.
According to sheriff’s officials, 18-year-old Ashley Blanton was traveling southbound on US 25 driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when she struck a solid waste garbage truck in the rear while it was stopped.
Officials say that they believe Blanton was blinded by the sun and that is why she hit the truck.

Blanton had to be extricated from her vehicle and was flown to UK Hospital with serious injuries.
The operator of the garbage truck was identified as Jerry Allen Lewis of Bimble, Kentucky. He was outside of the vehicle and at the side rear loading garbage.
Lewis was uninjured
