Private Detective: Robbery and Shooting Investigation in Pulaski Co.

Somerset Police are investigating an armed robbery that led to one suspect killing himself, and the other suspect running from police.

Investigators said just before 8:15 p.m. on Monday, an armed robbery occurred at the Goodwill Store, located in the Tradewinds Shopping Center on South 27 in Somerset.

Police said the employees from the Goodwill Store were robbed by a man and a woman armed with a gun. After the robbery, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputies and Somerset Police officers responded to the area.

Investigators said a deputy came upon the two suspects at the W. Columbia St. railroad crossing. Police said the man fled from the deputy and ran Eastbound on W. Columbia St. Investigators said at around the same time a Somerset police officer cut the man off near the intersection of W. Columbia St. and Park Avenue.

Somerset Police said the man was clearly armed with a handgun, retreated into the driveway of a West Columbia home and shot himself in the head. The unnamed man, was in his 40s, and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

For several hours, investigators remained on the scene and W. Columbia St. and blocked off the area near the Park Avenue intersection.

The Somerset Police Department said they are continuing investigate the armed robbery case, while the Kentucky State Police are conducting their own independent death investigation.

Police said the woman remained at large and is currently being sought after in a search conducted by several law-enforcement agencies.
