A Lexington woman was arrested last Friday for cashing a stolen Veterans Affairs check.
Officials say that a man reported that his monthly VA check had been stolen and cashed back in May. The victim said that he had recently moved and the check was sent to his former residence on Four Mile Avenue.

That check for $645 was forged and cashed around April.
Richmond Police say that an investigation identified Barbara R. Smith as a suspect in the case of the stolen check. She was charged with second degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and she has been lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
