Private Detecitvie Woman’s Body Found in Killeen, TX Home

Killeen Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found lying on the kitchen floor of a home Tuesday morning.

According to a release from Killeen PD spokeswoman, Caroll Smith, officers were patrolling the area of Veterans Memorial Blvd. and Jeffries around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday. The officers heard the sound of an alarm and followed it to a home in the 2700 block of Taft St.

The officers were able to see inside the house through an open window and spotted the woman on the floor. They also noted that the inside of the house had been burned. An investigator with the Killeen Fire Marshal’s Office told News Channel 25, “there was fire and smoke damage throughout the home.”

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced the woman dead at 8:00 a.m. Police had not confirmed the woman’s identity as of 12:15 p.m. The woman is described in the release as a white female in her mid fifties.

Police are still trying to figure out how the woman died, and an autopsy is pending. Police are also investigating the cause of the fire inside the home.
