In the complaints, an investigator with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office said Smith conspired with an unnamed person to break into a home in the 3400 block of Cyrus Creek Road to set it on fire in order to profit from the insurance payment during the early morning hours of March 15.

Smith’s co-conspirator was not named in the complaints, and no one else had been indicted in connection with the incident at the time of Smith’s arrest.

Smith was incarcerated at the Western Regional Jail on Thursday night. His bond was set at $225,000 cash only.
