Insurance Fraud 9 Arrested and 3 Wanted

Nine people are charged with insurance fraud, felony theft, and child desertion after they allegedly staged three car crashes in Lafayette Parish in order to collect more than $112,000 in insurance settlements.

Farice Daigle, who police say is the mastermind of the operation, was arrested last week on three counts each of insurance fraud and theft, two counts of money laundering, and one count of child desertion.

Troopers say Daigle arranged three crashes between 2011 and 2012 and received a cut of the insurance payouts from those who were involved in the crash. They say each crash involved three vehicles with eight or more people, including young children between the ages of one and thirteen, in the cars.

Four alleged accomplices–Chase Joseph, Candice Alex, Cherita Washington, and Gregory Hayes–all face one count each of insurance fraud, theft, and child endangerment.

Another, Kendall Traller, is charged with one count each of insurance fraud, theft, and conspiracy to commit child endangerment.

Two other alleged accomplices–Angel Broussard and Chelsie Chevalier–face one count each of insurance fraud and theft.

The final alleged conspirator, Jamie Ceasar, faces one count of insurance fraud.

Three other suspects are still at large. Courtney Thierry and Seth Daigle, both 27 and from Opelousas, and 24-year-old Niya Sanders of LaPlace, are wanted on insurance fraud and theft charges. If you know there whereabouts, call Louisiana State Police at 262-5880.
