Missing Person Iowa Man Reported Missing Found Safe in Montana

Daniel Landgrebe, who was believed to be in Montana after he was reported missing by his mother when she hadn’t heard from him in nearly two weeks, has turned up safe in Big Sky.

Daniel was said to be heading from Salt Lake City to the “Rainbow Family” gathering near Jackson in southwest Montana.

His mother Susanne says that that her son left home to travel and write a book; he didn’t bring a cellphone because he wanted to live “off the grid” during his travels, but did call home every three to five days.

Susanne had been working with an investigator and Daniel’s photo made headlines across Montana and his hometown in Iowa in an effort to find him.

On Saturday afternoon, Susanne says that she finally received a phone call from Daniel.

Susanne said that Daniel “feels terrible” for causing such worry, and that he had given someone his mother’s phone number eight days ago and asked that person to call her and say that Daniel was OK; that person apparently never called.

When Daniel called his mother on Sunday, he promised to send her a cell phone picture immediately; he used the cell phone of a gas station attendant to take the above photo and sent it to her.

Susanne said, “When I heard Daniel’s voice at the other end, I was so overwhelmed! I asked him if he had any idea that the whole nation was looking for him and he said he didn’t. He asked people in the gas station, ‘Hey, have you guys heard of Daniel Landgrebe?’ They said , ‘Yes, he is missing.’ He said, ‘That is me!’ They all laughed in the gas station.”

Daniel told his mom that he would be checking in with her on a more frequent basis from now on
