Drug Dog Sweep 3 Arrested in Arizona

Over the weekend, three Arizonans were arrested for attempting to smuggle almost 40 pounds of meth into the United States.

On Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers inspected a Ford SUV that belongs to 22-year-old Chandler resident Judy Adilene Aguirre. A narcotics dog alerted them of drugs inside the rear cargo compartment, and officers removed 14 packages of meth, worth more than $225,000.

Then on Sunday, CBP says a narcotics dog found 14 packages of meth valued at more than $220,000 in the front bumper of Joaquin Vincente Lopez’s Honda sedan. Lopez is 61 years old and a resident of Nogales.

Later Sunday, CBP caught a 34-year-old Fort Mohave woman with nine packages of meth, worth nearly $170,000. It was reportedly hidden in the gas tank of her Chevrolet SUV.

The drugs and vehicles have been processed for seizure, and the suspects were referred to Homeland Security Investigations.
