Authorities are investigating a fire set to a vehicle parked outside the Saginaw home of the 6-year-old whose body was found under a tarp earlier this month.
Officer Damon Ing with Saginaw police said officials responded to what they believe is a fire set intentionally shortly after 2:15 a.m. Friday morning. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting Saginaw police and the Saginaw Fire Department with the arson investigation.

The home of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher’s family was not damaged in the fire, Ing said. Also, a second fire outside the home that damaged a memorial for the girl was reportedly sparked by a candle, not arson.
Alanna’s body was found under a tarp on the side of a Saginaw street July 1 by two teenagers. Investigators, with the help of the FBI, have been collecting evidence and analyzing DNA and other materials from the Gallagher home and the neighborhood. There is a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the killer’s arrest and conviction.
