Missing Person Remains Found in Decade Old Case in West Virginia

Skeletal remains have been found in what investigators believe is a missing persons case that is over a decade old.

Mary Cobb and her daughter Wynona Delvecchio disappeared in Jasper back in 2002. Now, investigators in West Virginia believe they’ve found remains of at least one of the women.

Wanda Kiser has been arrested and charged with concealing a dead body or aiding and abetting to conceal a dead body in West Virginia in connection with the case.

Walker County District Attorney Bill Adair said Kiser use to live across the street from then-105-year-old Mary Cobb and her 85-year-old daughter Wynona Delvecchio in Jasper when the two went missing after being checked out of their nursing home.

Adair says in 2012, they found a skull under the missing ladies’ house, but haven’t received a positive identification yet.

Since the remains in West Virginia, where Kiser now lives, have been found, local investigators are in route with x-rays from a Jasper doctor of one of the missing women.

“Very bizarre, the fact that we have a skull here and then having other remains up there I think is very bizarre circumstances,” Adair said.

Jasper Police Chief Connie Rowe says she’s been told by the medical examiner in West Virginia that it appears the remains discovered there may belong to more than one person.

Police have been asked whether Kiser could have been the person who checked the women out of their nursing home. Rowe said they do have those records, but can’t release that since it’s part of the investigation.
