Identity Theft Woman Faces More Than 40 Charges

A 34-year-old woman accused of identity theft, counterfeiting, child abuse and a string of other charges was airlifted to a hospital in Salt Lake City after leading officers on a high speed chase through multiple counties in central Wyoming, according to the Park County Sheriff’s office.

When a Hot Springs County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over the truck Jamie L. Cleghorn was driving at about 5 p.m., she fled, the Park County Sheriff’s Office said. Cleghorn, whose last known address was in Alabama, has at least 42 felony and misdemeanor charges against her in Wyoming and Utah, including identity theft, manufacturing fake identities, passing counterfeit money, possessing drugs, child abuse and giving pornography to children under the age of 10, the Park County Sheriff’s Office said.

The chase started in Hot Springs County near Thermopolis and ended in Riverton in Fremont County after Cleghorn sideswiped a Jeep, crossed five lanes of traffic and sheared off a gas meter and power pole, the sheriff’s office reported.

Cleghorn was taken to Riverton Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Salt Lake City. Her condition was not immediately available Wednesday night.

The crash is being investigated by the Wyoming Highway Patrol and charges relating to the wreck are pending in Fremont County, the sheriff’s office said.

It is possible that more warrants for Cleghorn from additional states may be discovered as the investigation continues.
