Missing Person 2 Montgomery County, OH Teens Still Missing

Two Montgomery County teenagers are missing.

David Farmer, 16, has been gone since Tuesday. His family said he has a heart condition and celiac disease, for which he needs medication.

Diamond Reed, 17, left a residential facility in Northcutt on Tuesday night, according to Montgomery County Children Services.

As of Thursday afternoon, both teens were still missing.

Farmer sent a Facebook.com message to a friend in Riverside about his intentions to leave. That message occurred around 4 a.m. Tuesday. He left clues that he would be riding his bicycle to North Carolina, but detectives believe he may have been trying to throw them off his trail.

His father, Ryan Farmer, said the teen left their Putnam Road home on a blue and silver Schwinn bicycle wearing a black helmet and SwissGear backpack. The clothing David was wearing was not known

The father said he believed his son was travelling to his aunt’s house in Bryan, Ohio — northwest of Celina in Mercer County. She told authorities she has not seen her nephew.

A twist in the case developed Wednesday evening, Clayton Sgt. Joe Sanders said, when KYK9, a search-and-rescue group located near Louisville, Ky., hired by the boy’s parents, tracked a scent west on Sweet Potato Ridge Road to Ohio 49 in Clay Twp., then north into Phillipsburg and Ohio 49.

The boy has taken bicycle trips of that distance in the past, Sanders said, so talk about him heading more than 400 miles from home on his 10-speed Schwinn “is doable.”

Reed also needs daily medication, officials said. There is concern for her health.

Reed is described as a black female with a medium-brown complexion, 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. Officials did not release a photo.
