A woman was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. 25 in London Wednesday evening.
Police say the accident happened 6 miles south of London on U.S. 25 around 6:30 p.m.
Investigators say a Ford Focus car was traveling northbound on U.S. 25 when a vehicle in front of it stopped abruptly to turn left onto Fariston Road. The Ford Focus swerved to the left to avoid a collision, police say, and hit a Chevy Cobalt head-on that was traveling the opposite direction in the southbound lanes.
The woman driving the Ford Focus was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London with critical injuries, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
Police say four people were in the Chevy Cobalt. Three of them were flown from the scene to UK Hospital in 3 different helicopters with serious injuries. One person was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment. That person’s condition is unknown.
Police have not released the names of the victims. They say more information will be released on Thursday
