Missing Person Sheldon Leider of Southfield, Michigan

The Southfield Police Department is requesting the public’s help in locating Sheldon Myron Leider, a missing elderly man from Southfield.

Leider’s vehicle was found unoccupied in the City of Sterling Heights on Oct. 25, but there was no evidence of a crime in or near the vehicle, according to Southfield Police Lt. Nick Loussia.

The last time a family member spoke to Leider was the same day his car was found, on Oct. 25. The family member stated that Leider, age 75, “sounded strange and feared that he was not taking his medication,” Loussia said. Leider reportedly suffers from schizophrenia.

Officers conducted a welfare check at Leider’s residence, in the area of 11 Mile and Greenfield roads, and did not find evidence of a crime, Loussia said.

Leider is described as a white male, 5-feet 8-inches tall, weighing 155 pounds. He has hazel eyes, gray hair and possibly a gray mustache and beard.

Leider is known to frequent the area of 10 Mile and Greenfield. He has been entered in the Law Enforcement Information Network as a Missing Person-Endangered.
