Wrongful Death Woman’s Body Found in Alley in Louisville

The woman found dead by sanitation workers early Saturday in a western Louisville alley has been identified as Andrie Arnold, 26.

Arnold died from multiple gunshot wounds, said R.D. Jones, deputy coroner with the Jefferson County Coroner’s office.

Jones was not able to release any additional information Saturday.

Arnold was found in an alley behind 2311 W. Gaulbert Ave. around 8:30 a.m.

Louisville Metro Police are investigating her death as a homicide, said Alicia Smiley, a police spokeswoman.

No arrests had been made and there were no suspects, Smiley said Saturday afternoon.

The sanitation workers told The Courier-Journal they were halfway through their route when they noticed a woman lying in the alley. Thinking she was asleep, they tried to wake her up until they realized she was deceased and called police.

Several neighbors told The Courier-Journal they didn’t hear anything suspicious Friday night or early Saturday.

“I just hate it for the family of the young woman,” said Shirley Smith, who walked over to the crime scene after seeing police cars drive by her home on South 22nd Street. “That’s someone’s daughter. And it’s right before Christmas. It’s just terrible.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD.
