Drug Dog Sweep Two Cascade County, Montana Men Arrested After Meth Found

Two Cascade County residents have been arrested on drug charges after drug task force officers reportedly intercepted a meth shipment using a drug-sniffing dog.

Jon Easterwood, 48, and Kelly Embody, 25, face charges of conspiracy to distribute dangerous drugs.

According to information provided by the Russell Country Drug Task Force, detectives began to investigate Easterwood in connection with methamphetamine distribution in Cascade County last summer. Information they collected indicated that he allegedly received packages averaging one pound of the substance on a weekly basis.

Task force officers said they worked with the U.S. Postal Inspector Office to intercept a suspected package of drugs scheduled for delivery Jan. 14 to an address in Black Eagle identified as Embody’s residence. The package was identified with the aid of a drug-sniffing dog.

Officers reportedly monitored the package’s delivery to Embody’s address, then followed Embody and others to another location where Embody met with Easterwood. Both were arrested shortly after.

A half-pound of meth was allegedly recovered from Embody’s car and $83,000 in cash was allegedly found in a safe belonging to Easterwood after both were searched on warrants.

Cascade County Detention Center reported Wednesday afternoon that Easterwood had been released on bond and that Embody was still in custody.
