Wrongful Death Additional Details on Body Found in Lexington Home

The Fayette County Coroner has released the identity of a man who was found dead inside a house in Lexington Monday night.

The coroner said Tuesday just after noon that 54-year-old Glenn Roderick Sanford died of a gunshot wound. The case is now being investigated as a homicide, the coroner said.

Sanford’s body was discovered in a house on Silver Maple Way, between East Fourth and Fifth, around 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Crime scene tape was still left out on the scene Tuesday morning as it remained active throughout the night, and the coroner had left out a note on the door advising that no one was allowed inside to disturb the scene.

Police cruisers, the Fayette County Coroner, the Commonwealth’s Attorney and the mobile crime lab were on scene as the investigation developed.

The coroner had previously said the man had not died of natural causes and the agencies involved stayed tight-lipped about the investigation until autopsy results were complete Tuesday.

A neighbor and friend of Sanford’s described him as a good guy who kept to himself.

“He never had problems with people. Always offering an extra plate to everybody,” said neighbor and friend Christian D. “Never thought he had a problem with anybody. And I was shocked whenever I was pulling up yesterday to my house, seeing all these police cars. You can’t say nothing bad about him.”
