A Madison County man was arrested for charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Brian J. Smith, 26, of Berea, Ky., was arrested after a search warrant at his house on Wednesday led to the discovery of equipment used to facilitate the crime. Police did not clarify on what that was. The equipment was seized and taken to the KSP forensic laboratory for examination, police said.

The KSP Electronic Crime Branch said it began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online.
Smith is currently charged with multiple counts of possession and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
He is being held in the Madison County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing, KSP said.
