Drug Dog Sweep Heroin and Meth Found in Sherwood, Oregon

A traffic stop led to drug charges the night Friday, Feb. 21 after a Sherwood Police officer and a police dog found 99 grams of heroin, 2 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun in a 1992 white Cadillac.

The car’s driver, 54-year-old Loren Dean Dowdy, was charged with possessing, manufacturing and distributing heroin; possessing methamphetamine; possessing a gun as a felon; and driving with a suspended license.

The passenger, 22-year-old Chelsea Lee Dennis, was charged with possessing, manufacturing and distributing heroin; possessing methamphetamine; and unlawful possession of a gun.

The drugs were found on the suspects and in the car, according to a press release, and Sherwood Police dog helped find drugs hidden in the car. The gun was found under the passenger seat.

The suspects are not from the area and told police they have been living in a Portland area hotel. They ended up in Sherwood after taking a wrong turn, they said.

Dowdy and Dennis were taken into custody after the 11:13 p.m. traffic stop.
