Fraud Investigation Man Arrested in Connection With Lightning Protection Scam

A Rowan County man has been arrested in connection with a lightning scam, thanks to the sharp eye of some LEX 18 viewers after police released a photo of the suspects.

Phillip Clay, 25, is charged with theft by deception.

Deputies said Clay and another man have been posing as electric company employees and installing what they’re passing off as ‘lightning protection.’
