Drug Dog Sweep Two Arrested in North Little Rock

A North Little Rock man was arrested Friday for his purported involvement in a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured earlier in the week.

Clyde Cook III, 35, of North Little Rock was arrested and charged with first-degree battery, leaving the scene of an injury accident, careless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

Cook was arrested after receiving a tip about the location of the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident.

About 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jimmy Bowman, 47, of North Little Rock was riding a bicycle near MacArthur Drive and Munro Road when Cook purportedly struck him with his vehicle, an report states. Bowman sustained serious injuries. An update on his condition was not available Saturday.

Cook was being held at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $4,570 bond as of late Saturday.

Police traffic stopleads to ‘pot’ arrest

Police arrested a Little Rock man Friday night after purportedly seeing a large bag of marijuana in the front passenger seat of his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to police reports.

Joshua Wiley, 22, was stopped by police at 11:20 p.m. Friday on Covenant Cove for making an improper left turn, police said. The officer said he saw the marijuana, then searched Wiley’s person. The officer found a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun and three small bags of marijuana in Wiley’s pockets, according to reports.

Wiley was arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies, including possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm.

Police use stun gunto subdue suspect

Jacksonville police used a stun gun and arrested a suspect after he purportedly resisted arrest Thursday night, police said.

Officers responded to a possible domestic disturbance at a home on Blakely Street in Jacksonville about 11:30 p.m. Thursday. According to police reports, the suspect was “belligerent and combative.”

Police said the suspect, Emmanuel Moore, 24, reached for a knife. When officers tried to stop him, Moore pushed them away. Two officers got Moore to the ground and used a stun gun after he did not stop resisting arrest, the report states.

Moore was taken to the Jacksonville Police Department and was charged with resisting arrest, assault and felony battery.

2 arrested after dogfinds drugs in car

A Jacksonville man and a North Little Rock woman were arrested Thursday after a canine unit discovered drugs, cash and a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun during a traffic stop, according to police.

Robert Mize, 41, and Jordon Goff, 23, were passengers in a vehicle that was stopped by police after running a stop sign and not using a turn signal at 400 Graham Road in Jacksonville about 2:13 p.m. Thursday, police said. A canine unit was brought to the scene from North Little Rock to search the vehicle.

According to police reports, officers found two syringes, one used and one containing a clear liquid, in Goff’s purse. In the backseat, where Mize was sitting, officers purportedly discovered a hand-rolled cigarette containing a “green leafy substance.”

Officers discovered a metal safe in the trunk of the car, and one of the detectives found the key to the safe in Goff’s bra during a search. According to reports, approximately 7 ounces of a clear, crystalline substance was in the safe, along with a handgun, digital scale, plastic baggies and about $1,700. According to police, Mize said the safe and its contents belonged to him.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a warning and released. Mize was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm, and Goff was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
