Wrongful Death New Trial Date Set for Man Accused of Killing Family of 5

The Kentucky Supreme court ordered a new trial for a man convicted of killing three children in Leslie County because of a problem with the first trial’s jury.

Clayton Jackson was found guilty of arson and murder in the deaths of three Leslie County children whose parents were also killed, shot with a bow and arrow.

But the jury could not decide if Jackson was to blame for the parents’ death. The supreme court ruled one of the jurors was friends with the victim’s brother and was not replaced because the judge said there was no one to replace him.

Jackson’s trial was rescheduled for Set. 10, 2015.

The children – Michael, Robert and Jordon Sturgill – died of smoke inhalation after their mobile home was set on fire in 2004.
