A 24-year-old woman was charged with killing her two children, ages 1 and 3, in Cheverly on Sunday, Prince George’s County police said.
Police said Sonya Spoon, of the 6200 block of Forrest Rd., admitted to suffocating the children, Ayden and Kayla. Officers were called to the home at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, and the children were rushed to the hospital, where they died.

Their deaths were ruled homicides, and Spoon was arrested and charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree murder. Police did not identify a motive.
Spoon is being held without bond. She has a court hearing scheduled for Oct. 3.
