Private Detective: One Man Behind Fraudulent Shopping Spree in Lexington and Louisville

A one-man crime spree stretches all the way from Lexington to Louisville, and police in both cities believe the suspect is linked to several car break-ins.

Unfortunately for the suspect, he was captured on camera spending hundreds of his victims’ dollars.

Back on August 24, one woman walked away from her car only long enough to take her luggage into the Griffin Gate Marriott and returned to find the window of her car busted out with her cash and credit cards gone.

“She did her own follow-up and actually tracked her phone and it was last tracked at the Marathon,” says Det. Chris Darmadji.

Detectives pulled surveillance video and found the spot where the man who broke into her car, ditched her purse before taking off with what he really wanted: her cards.

From the Marathon, he drove his white Infinity SUV to the Target on Reynolds Road.

“We found out he bought electronics, gift cards, prepaid cell phones,” says Det. Darmadji.

But he wasn’t finished. He jumped back on I-64 to Louisville and continued his shopping spree at the Nordstrom in St. Matthews Mall.

“He’s very smart, he knows what to do. He’s been getting away with it for a very long time,” says Det. Darmadji.

So police are hoping you’ll share his photo and with a little luck, they’ll come up with an ID.

If you have any information on the identity of the suspect, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020. Your information could earn you a cash reward.
