Missing Person Scott County Woman Missing 21 Years

A Scott County family has spent 21 agonizing years wondering what happened to their loved one who disappeared without a trace.

On the 21st anniversary of her disappearance, Sons’ sister says she just wants to bring her home.

“It never gets easier, never,” said Debra Collins. “Whether she’s alive or she ain’t, we’d like to just have her home… have the answers we so desperately search for.”

It was Oct. 21, 1993 when Collins says she last talked to her sister, Sharon Sons, over the phone. Collins remembers Sons was upset with her boyfriend.

“Before she left, they were fighting,” Collins said.

The boyfriend told police he last saw the 28-year-old walking down Cane Run Road near Russell Cave in Lexington. Police questioned and cleared him in the case, but sons’ sister says she’s skeptical of his story.

“I know she didn’t just walk away,” Collins said.

More than anything, Collins and her family want to find Sons to give her and them the peace they so desperately need.

“Even if she’s not alive, if we could just put her to rest… to put us to rest. This has been so hard,” she said.
