Wrongful Death Additional Details For Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend’s Son

The case against a man accused of killing his girlfriend’s toddler son has been waived to a grand jury.

Joseph Adams was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning, but his attorney waived it sending the case to the grand jury.

The 25-year-old was watching his girlfriend’s 13-month-old son at a Junction City home earlier this month when the boy was somehow hurt.

The Danville Advocate Messenger reported that investigators found severe injuries to the boy’s head and body, and signs of apparent sexual abuse.

The paper says according to a Kentucky State Police citation, Adams was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

According to court documents, Adams told police the boy’s 2-year-old sister assaulted her brother and caused the injuries. Police noted the story was not consistent with the extent of the injuries.

The toddler was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Adams has pleaded not guilty and is still being held in the Boyle County Detention Center with no bond.
