Missing Person Teen Abduction in San Andreas, CA Was a Hoax

Authorities have determined an abduction reported Monday morning in San Andreas in Calaveras County was fabricated.

An Amber Alert was issued by the California Highway Patrol for a 14-year-old boy who was reportedly forced into a white van by two individuals at a San Andreas convenience store. The family of the alleged kidnapped victim also made a missing person’s report, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said.

Early Monday evening, the sheriff’s office reported the teen had been found by Stockton police in Stockton and was being questioned.

After an investigation, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office stated later on Monday night that the abduction was a hoax and one juvenile has been placed into custody with Calaveras County juvenile probation.

“During the investigation which included an extensive deployment of resources, Sheriff Detectives obtained evidence that the abduction claim had been fabricated,” the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.

Due to the juvenile being a minor, the teen’s name is not being reported.
