Wrongful Death Family Wants Answers in Shooting Death of Man in Front of Church

A Lexington family is speaking to LEX 18 after their family member was shot and killed in broad daylight in front of a church.

Walter Gray was gunned down Sunday in front of Christ Temple New Assembly and subsequently died of his injuries. Gray had a criminal past, but his family says that he paid his debt to society in full.

Gray’s family says the news came as a shock and was the most devastating for his mother, who feels that Gray had just made his way back to the family.

“She’s devastated. That was only boy. He was her baby. What is she going to do now?” says Christa Gray, Walter’s sister.

Walter Gray had been convicted in the murder of Andrea Tiller. Police say he shot her several times over selling drugs. He did ten years for the crime.

“We all have our times in life and nobody is perfect. He was younger then and he went on the wrong path, but he tried, he went to prison, he did his time, he got his life back together,” says Mya Gray, Walter’s sister.

Their family wants justice and they want violence to stop in the community.

“Let the violence go. Put the guns down. Come to God and ask for help,” says Carol Gray.

Walter is survived by many loved ones and a 15-year-old son. While they plan to lay him to rest Friday, they’re still left with many unanswered questions who did this and why?
