23-year-old Robert Anthony Douglas Waldrup of Cardinal Loop in Stanley has been arrested by Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Detective Dan Renn for statutory rape or sex offense of a 13,14 or 15 year old victim by a defendant more than six years older and one misdemeanor count of cyberstalking.
He is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female victim on Labor Day weekend 2014 after driving the victim to her relative’s house on Old Plank Road. The cyberstalking charge stems from numerous text messages Waldrup sent to the victim and to her friends and family.

After appearing before a Magistrate last night (March 4), Waldrup was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond. During a first appearance hearing this morning, bond for Waldrup was raised to $100,000. His next court date was set for March 9.
The investigation is ongoing.
