The victim of the city’s latest homicide has been identified.
The Fayette County Coroner has identified the deceased as 20-year-old Vondre Smithers.

Police responded to Bellefonte Drive around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday morning for reports of a person lying in the road. Initial reports were that the person had been hit by a vehicle. Fire crews arrived on the scene to discover that Smithers had been shot.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday in Frankfort.
