The two men accused of gunning down a UK student last Friday pleaded not guilty to charges in court Monday.Justin Smith and Efrain Diaz both waived their right to a formal arraignment in the shooting death of Jonathan Krueger. The two men pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and robbery.
Jonathan Kruger was walking home Friday morning with a friend when he was shot. Krueger was a popular student at the University of Kentucky. He was the photo editor for the Kentucky Kernel and a member of the the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

No bond was set for Smith and Diaz. Their next hearing will be May 7.
A vigil for Krueger will be held at Memorial Hall Monday night beginning at 8 p.m.
Family members set up a photography scholarship in Krueger’s name. In just over a day, the Jonathan Krueger Memorial Scholarship fund raised more than $14,000, well over the original $10,000 goal.
