Accident Reconstruction One Dead and Several Injured in Madison County Crash

Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle accident in Madison county where one person died and several others were injured.

Jacks Creek Road was shut down from 5 pm into the late evening hours, on Tuesday, as investigators reconstructed the accident in which one person died and four others were injured.

Kentucky State Police said one car, with two men and two women, was heading east toward Richmond when it crashed into another car with only one person in it.

The woman in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead on scene by the Madison County Coroner.

State police says another person from that same vehicle, who was sitting behind the passenger, had to be flown to UK hospital.

The three others involved went to the hospital by ambulance. No word on the extent of the injuries of the others involved.

A large section of the road was shut down for several hours causing a traffic back up and headache for some who were trying to get home Tuesday night.

“They continued to block the road and I had to go around on a three-mile detour to get home and I had no idea what was going on in that point in time,” said Pam Coney, neighbor.  “There was a fire truck right behind me and then one of my kids had said they’d seen a coroner’s car go by.”

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the accident.

The coroner has yet to release the name of the woman killed in the crash.
