Wrongful Death Oldham Co. Murder Victim’s Family Raises Money For Reward

The sense of pain and frustration that came from a scene like that was unimaginable.

Oldham County Police said 43-year-old DuWayne Hale, or “Tank” as he’s called by his family, was found murdered in the passenger seat of his burned out car close to Highway 42 near Goshen.

Michael Stovall, Tank’s father, tries his best to keep it together for everyone around him.

“That person who is walking the Earth…he’s the Devil. Ain’t no person of God is going to do that to a person. That person doesn’t have a heart. He’s a walking Devil,” said Stovall.

“I got to be strong for his kids and my family, because if they see me breaking down, they’ll keep breaking down,” said cousin Gary Rhodes. “They took a father, a friend and a great cousin.”

The family and local churches have started a reward fund, because they say somebody out there knows something about Tank’s homicide.

At this point, Stovall said $10,000 has already been raised.

“If it takes more, we’ll do what we have to do. That person needs to be caught because if he don’t, that person might do it again.”, said Stovall.

Until an arrest comes, Tank’s family takes life day-by-day, leaning on their faith.

“The spirit of God is keeping me going right now,” said Stovall.

While they may be mourning, the family remains extremely hopeful.

“It’s just a matter of time. Justice will be dealt out, regardless if it’s through the Lord or through the courts at 6th and Jefferson. We’ll be here. We ain’t going nowhere,” Rhodes said.
