Wrongful Death Woman Sentenced to 25 Years For Murder of Grandparents

A 25 year sentence has been handed down for a Lincoln County teen accused of killing her grandparents in a house fire.

Allison Wilson did apologize in the courtroom for killing Linda and Everett Garland and setting fire to their home, but family members say right now they just can’t accept it. Wilson plead guilty but mentally ill to two counts of murder back in April.

In a taped confession, Wilson told state police she started the fire because her grandfather had slapped her when she was 12 years old. Even with an apology to the family in the courtroom, Wilson’s great aunt says she isn’t ready to forgive her.

“This has had an effect on all of us. We don’t want to come back here again and our roots were here and have no desire to return here due to the horror that took place,”  said Lora Harbaugh, the great-aunt of the defendant.

Wilson’s attorney requested the judge make sure that counseling is available to her while she is incarcerated.
