“Today (May 20), in addition to ground search personnel, the Coast Guard will fly the shoreline area, weather permitting. We are coordinating for search dogs as soon as tomorrow,” Tillamook County Sheriff Andy Long said. “Searching dense growth areas thoroughly is challenging, especially a large area such as Cape Lookout. If we are able to find evidence that indicates a last know location, that would help search teams focus on a smaller areas and sometimes aid in tracking a person’s path.

Long said a person who may be suicidal can present additional challenges.

“We have to consider that a person may have made efforts to not be found, and maybe deceased,” he said.
