Arson Investigation Woman In Jail After String of Fires at Apartment Complex

A Lexington woman is in jail tonight accused of setting a string of fires at her apartment complex.

Investigators say Danitra Ross set six separate fires, and that charred brick is still visible from the road. Firefighters were here just Saturday for another fire, which they say the 38-year-old set on purpose.

“There actually were a total of six incidents,” says Battalion Chief Mark Blankenship, “five when there were fires started, one when there was an attempt to start a fire.”

Investigators say the woman’s method was to set her shutters on fire. A judge has kept her bond at $30,000 cash, noting that she’s considered a danger to others. She’s charged with five counts of arson and one attempted arson. Those who live at Eastridge can’t understand how Ross or anyone can continue to set fires over a month’s time before being arrested.
