Wrongful Death Woman in Connection With Police Chase Charged With Murder

The woman arrested after a multi-county police chase has beenĀ charged with the murder of her boyfriend, sources confirm.

Vanessa Napier was arrested on Friday after allegedly stealing a bucket truck from a gas station. Police say she led them in a chase to Richmond and back and was finally arrested in Lexington.

While she was in custody, officers discovered the body of 53-year-old John A. Sharp during a welfare check at a home on Athens-Walnut Hill Road. They connected his body back to Napier and she was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Napier was already lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center in connection to theĀ unrelated case involving the stolen truck. Police aren’t revealing a connection between Napier and Sharp, but other sources tell LEX 18 that they were in a relationship.

The Fayette County Coroner says that Sharp died from multiple stab wounds to his chest. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call police.
