Kentucky State Police have received several complaints in the past week from people advising that there have been scam phone calls from someone stating that they are with the IRS.
The phone calls are usually made from a 917 area code. The caller will state that a debt is owed and if they are not paid, legal action will be taken against them.

KSP wants the public to know that the IRS would never contact an individual by phone. Never give anyone your personal information over the phone. If you receive a suspicious phone call, contact KSP or your local law enforcement agency.
