Accident Reconstruction Two Dead in Bath Co. Car Accident

There has been a single vehicle accident on US 60 near KY 537 in Bath County.

Police say that there were three people in the SUV that was headed west on Owingsville Road not far from the Montgomery Line, when it went off the road. The driver died on scene and one of the passengers died at the UK Medical Center. The third person in the car refused treatment at the scene.

Police say that the car went through a fence, causing a piece of wood to come through the windshield and kill the driver.

Rain has fallen in this area for most of the day; this has lowered visibility and made the road incredibly wet. Police believe that weather did play a role in this accident.

“People need to slow down. We see wrecks all the time. They go around that curve too fast. Not always fatal,” said Bennis Dunn, who lives in the area. “We’ve seen three or four wrecks around there. Usually not deadly. But there have been several wrecks in that area. It’s sad, just sad.”

Traffic was down to one lane. No word yet who the victims are.
