Missing Person Body of Missing Harrodsburg Man Found on Alexandria Drive

The search for a missing Harrodsburg man led investigators to Lexington where his body was found Tuesday afternoon.

The Fayette County Coroner was called to Alexandria Drive where Barry Slaven’s body was discovered inside a moving truck.

What started as a simple death investigation quickly turned in a homicide.

“At this point we believe that another person has taken this white male’s life,” said Gary Ginn, Fayette County Coroner. “So we are investigating it as a homicide.”

Ginn said Slaven, 33, was found in the front of a Penske truck with a gunshot wound.

But friends tell LEX18 they had been searching for him since Sunday.

Family said they had filed a missing person’s report with Lexington Police and even took to social media to try to spread the word about his sudden disappearance.

Friends said Slaven was was a great father, friend and even served in the military.

Although the investigation is still in the early stages, Slaven’s loved ones hope to get answers as to why he was killed.

“We’re not sure if there were multiple people in the truck if this was the only person if possibly someone else maybe the driver left the vehicle,” Ginn said. “Maybe someone got in the truck.”

While investigators stayed out searching, using what appeared to be metal detectors, for any clues that may be linked to this crime a friend started a GoFundMe page to help pay for funeral expenses.

The coroner says he can’t call the exact cause of death until he learns more after an autopsy is performed Wednesday.
